A lovesick Angelica cannot remove Ranaldo from her heart and enlists Malagise to help her attain the knight. When Rinaldo refuses to comply, Malagise whisks him away from his supposed battle against Gradasso in Barcelona and sends him to the Palazzo Zoioso.
