All three plays were based on episodes from Boiardo’s Orlando Innamorato. The first two were rendered into comedies by Jo Ann Cavallo, adapted by Paolo Tartamella, and performed in the context of the Columbia University Summer Program in Scandiano, with the collaboration of the Compagnia Teatro Nuovo of Scandiano and the Teatro Pubblico Pugliese, under the direction of Vittorio Capotorto of Teatromania. The third, Orlando in Love, was adapted and translated by Jo Ann Cavallo and directed by Vittorio Capotorto at the 2003 Medieval Festival at For Tryon Park as a prelude to the full-length comedy that was staged in Central Park, New York City, July 2006.
In 2009, the third play of the Orlando Innamorato trilogy, titled Le isole lontane, also rendered into a play by Jo Ann Cavallo and directed by Vittorio Capotorto, was staged in Ugento (province of Lecce).
