  • Bio: Hi! I am Lucia, 1st year student of the MPA-Development Practice Program, from Peru. Prior coming to SIPA I worked for the Ministry of Education of Peru implementing a new program: public schools for high-performing students (COAR schools). I managed the public-private projects for the schools’ infrastructure, and worked on the design of the program’s impact evaluation. I have a degree in Business Administration, so before the Ministry I had worked for 5 years in marketing in FMCG companies, leading the re-launch and new image implementation of two important brands in Peru. I also served as a communications volunteer in Ankay, non-profit organization that gives university scholarships to students from low in-come families. I want to continue my career in the education sector, and work on the intersection of the public and private sector to pursue and educational reform. My main interest by taking this class is understanding the keys of the success for the higher education development in Asian countries, and also the challenges these countries faced during the process. Peru's higher education system needs a reform urgently and I would like to understand better how it worked in other countries to be able to design possible solutions for my country's problem.
