Shuyang Huang

Shuyang Huang is from Shanghai, China, and her name is pronounced Shoo-Young Huang in English. She attained a Bachelor of Science degree in Human Geography at East China Normal University. Her concentrations at GSAPP are Urban Analytics and Built Environment. In her leisure time, she has been playing cello for 14 years since ten, and was proudly titled as the Principal Cellist for her college orchestra.

Ethan Hudgins

Ethan is a 2nd-year Urban Planning grad student at GSAPP. Ethan took this class because the possibility of solving practical problems with a new skill set was intriguing. Exploring the world of sensors for addressing urban problems is just another exciting opportunity at GSAPP. Ethan hopes to implement progressive urban planning policy to solve community challenges in his career, and now sensors can be part of the tool set for achieving that goal.

Nick Kunz

Nick Kunz is a Graduate Student at Columbia University. His research interests are at the intersection of analytics, statistics, and machine learning in various topics in urbanism. His previous experience is in design, real estate development, and financial services consulting. Education includes international work in Europe and the Middle East. Previous civil and military service with a deep commitment to the public good. Inactive musician with previous participation in various roles on tours across the United States and Canada. Name: Shiori Osakata

Currently a second year of Master of Science in Urban Planning at Columbia University, Graduate School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation. She has strong interests in urban planning, urban design, urban analysis, public space, street level and human-scale design.

Suprima Bhele (Supri)

Suprima Bhele is a second year graduate student at Columbia GSAPP in Urban Planning. Her concentration in in Urban Analytics. Prior to this stint, Supri obtained her Bachelors in Mathematics and Statistics (along with Studio Arts). With a background in design and data, and extreme ehtusisam for urbantech, she hopes to incorporate all her interests in future practices.

William Reis

William Reis is a second year Masters in Urban Planning student in the Graduate School of Architecture, Planning, and Preservation at Columbia University. He is concentrating in Urban Analytics. Reis previously earned a B.S. in Interdisciplinary Studies at Cornell University with a concentration in Biological Sciences and Natural Resource Management.

Shelby Smith

Shelby Smith is a second-year student at the Graduate School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation (GSAPP) at Columbia University, pursuing her Masters in Urban Planning with duel-concentrations in the Built Environment and Urban Analytics. She has a passion energy-efficiency and sustainability, and will be pursuing a career in environmental planning after graduating in May 2019.

She hails from New Jersey and consults on energy-efficiency and GHG reduction projects as well as CRM marketing and strategy consulting.

Ri Le

Ri Le (pronounced ARE-ee) is a Columbia GSAPP MS Urban Planning student from California who is interested in the intersections between urbanism, technology, and design. Ri installed their first Linux distribution in the fifth grade on an old Dell hand-me-down from 1999, and combines various disciplines and media such as media arts, photography, and graphic design to create things that inform, provoke, delight, and sometimes confuse.
