Art historian and professor at the National University of Colombia (Institute of Aesthetic Studies), where he coordinates the research area of the MA in Museology and Heritage Management. As a museum professional, professor López Rosas especializes in educational programs. He served as director of the Art Museum of the National University of Colombia, coordinated public programs at the Art Museum of the Bank of the Republic of Colombia, and worked as chief director of the Section of Education and Culture of the National Museum of Colombia. He is a founding member of diverse researching groups, such as Critical Museology and Cultural Heritage Studies and Taller Historia Crítica del Arte, as well as active member of collaborative platforms such as Red Conceptualismos del Sur.
