Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Center

Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Center, Manhattan
New York, New York

The Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Center was founded in 1959 by Swami Vishnu-devananda.   The teachings at the center are based on the philosophies of Swami Vishnu-devananda and his teacher Master Swami Sivananda and focus on health and happiness through the practice of yoga.  The center offers daily open classes for beginner, intermediate, and advanced students, in addition to prenatal classes and classes for seniors.  Along with postures and asanas, chanting, meditation, and positive thinking are an integral part of each class.  The center holds daily satsangs every morning and on some evenings for all to attend.  The Sivananda Center in Manhattan works closely with the Sivananda Ashram Yoga Ranch located in the Catskills.  Students are encouraged to take advantage of yoga vacations, workshops, and lectures held at the ashram.
