Background
This PCORE web-based portal features a set of five interactive education modules, an electronic library, and online evidence-based point of care tools and patient education in primary care. Web-based education, to provide a standardized primary care curriculum to Columbia University College of Physicians & Surgeons students across dozens of training sites, commenced in 2005 with the support of the Dorothy Schiff Foundation, the Columbia University Primary Care Education and Research Gift Fund, and Dr. Rebecca Kurth MD. This PCORE portal was launched June 30, 2008, representing interdisciplinary and departmental collaborations between the Center for Family and Community Medicine, the Columbia Center for New Media Teaching and Learning, the Center for Education Research and Evaluation, the P&S Department of Psychiatry and the P&S Division of General Medicine. Albert Einstein College of Medicine joined in collaboration in 2011.
