The Clinical Evaluation of Language Fundamentals (CELF-5) was designed to assess a student’s language and communication skills in a variety of contexts, determine the presence of a language disorder, describe the nature of the language disorder, and plan for intervention or treatment.

Static Assessment is a method of assessment, which focuses on skills and knowledge gained prior to the assessment. The examiner presents his/her test and identifies strengths and deficits based on test performance during that session. This type of testing measures an individual’s experience with those skills and knowledge rather than their ability. In contrast, dynamic assessment emphasizes the individual’s ability to acquire the skills/knowledge after being provided with instruction.
