Category: Early Intervention (EI)

Early Intervention (EI) is a program that was created in 1986 under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). The program provides services for infants and toddlers with disabilities. To be eligible for services in New York State, the child must be 3 years old or younger and have a disability or delay in one or more areas of development (e.g. physical, cognitive, communication, socio-emotional, and adaptive). The requirements for eligibility may differ from state to state.
