This module begins to explain exactly what clinical judgment, or informed clinical opinion, is and how to use it during the evaluation process. Cate describes how examiners can develop clinical judgment. They should become familiar with the community where they work and gain experience with both typically developing and delayed or disordered children. Once an examiner has good clinical judgment, he or she will be able to distinguish typically developing children from children with a disability with much higher accuracy than any standardized test currently offers.
