In this video module, Cate introduces the child being evaluated for this case study and begins the evaluation by using a variety of materials available on LEADERSproject.org. The materials she uses are called SLAM (School-aged Language Assessment Measure) and include language elicitation cards intended both for younger preschool and elementary school aged children as well as cards intended for middle and high schoolers. Cate uses these materials along with the questions included to elicit quality language samples which will then be compared to developmental norms, considering Alex’s background and prior experiences.
